Safe Communities Day 2017

Now in its 13th year, Safe Communities Day is an annual public awareness campaign designed to recognize and reward the great work Safe Communities do in Canada and around the world. This year, grade 6 students from both Upper Grand District School Board and Wellington Catholic District School Board will, once again, participate in an “Injury Prevention” day at the Royal Distributing Athletic Performance Centre in Marden.  Working together, participants from Guelph/Wellington EMS, Grand River Conservation Authority, Ministry of Naturual Resources, Centre Wellington Hydro, Wellington County OPP,to name a few, will participate in this day to ensure students are educated in a variety of every day safety rules to keep themselves and their communities safe. Linked to an international movement begun in 1989, Canadian Safe Communities believe that a safe life is a basic right and its designation is a public affirmation of, and testament to, a community’s aspiration to create a safer life for all its citizens.

New This Year!  The City of Guelph Water Wagon will be joining us.  Students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to fill up at The Guelph Water Wagon all day long!
